Rutabagas are excellent if boiled, mashed and mixed with a little bit
of milk, butter, brown sugar, salt and pepper.
                          Scalloped Rutabaga and Apple Combo

1 large Rutabaga; peeled and diced
3 tbsp Margarine; divided
1 1/2 c Peeled; sliced apples
1/4 c Brown sugar
1/8 tsp Cinnamon
1/3 c Flour
1/3 c Brown sugar

Cook, drain and mash rutabaga. Add 1 tablespoon margarine. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Toss sliced apples with 1/4 cup brown sugar and cinnamon. Arrange alternate layers of
mashed rutabaga and sliced apples in greased 2 quart casserole, beginning and ending with
rutabaga.
Mix together flour, 1/3 cup brown sugar and 2 tablespoons margarine until crumbly. Sprinkle
over top of casserole; bake for 1 hour. Serves 6.
Rutabagas & Carrots: Boil them together, drain water, and mash together,
adding a little butter, nonfat milk, and brown sugar for a great side dish.
